Tarlatan is a fine-knit coton fabric with a loose weave.
Tarlatan is used in intaglio to wipe ink on the metal plate.

Tarlatan is used in consecutive handles :
A first handle to distribute the ink in the sizes and collect the excess ink.
A second handle to wipe the ink still in excess and let appear the engraving of the plate.
A third handle to finalize the wiping of the ink on the plate.

You can complete the wiping of the plate with silk paper or by paumage.
